reporting that he has received a reply from His Excellency
stating that when the legislation is effected he will give
an assurance that he will grant licences only after consulting with the Consul General and, in case of difference
of opinion, will act on the views expressed by His
Majesty's Minister, but that Sir C. Clementi does not
consider it necessary to embody this in the Ordinance.
4. Mr. Brenan thinks, and I agree, that this is
quite satisfactory, and accordingly I have no objection to
the Draft Bill in its present form and shall welcome the
introduction of this legislation.
